What need to be Told...

• The condition of alphemia is when the nail of your index finger grows faster than your other fingers. This disease is as dangerous as skin cancer.

How many of you actually believed those facts? If even 1% of you did then this is what I want to tell. This is something that needs to be told.

Not everything you read on the internet is true. Those above lines (facts?) are just randomly typed lines by me and are 100% false.

We believe many things on the internet to be true because they are portrayed in a such way using complex words and images and maybe videos which forces us to believe them to be true. Alphemia is not even a word! This was just an example. People nowadays consider Whatsapp as the ultimate ‘truth of life’ guide. Whatever they receive they accept it to be true and forward it to similar people like them. That is how false news and maybe hate is spread!

For god’s sake UN never declared Indian national anthem as the best anthem!( one of the forwarded Whatsapp messages I receive on every 15 august)

Again, What needs to be said?

Not everything you see on the internet is true.

According to a survey people tend to believe you more when you use the words ‘according to a survey’ before your sentence.

There is hope.

The uniqueness of the poem is that it turns a pessimistic view of the world into something hopeful and optimistic if we only cared to look at it in a different way – that is just simply read it backwards.

I had spent an hour in the bank with my Dad, as he had to transfer some money. I couldn’t resist myself & asked,

Dad, why don’t we activate your internet banking?

He asked,

Why would I do that?

I answered,

Well, then you won’t have to spend an hour here for things like transfer.

You can even do your shopping online. Everything will be so easy!

I was so excited about initiating him into the world of Net banking.

He asked,

If I do that, I won’t have to step out of the house?

I said,

Yes, yes!

I told him how even grocery can be delivered at door now and how amazon delivers everything!

His answer left me tongue-tied.

He said,

Since I entered this bank today, I have met four of my friends, I have chatted a while with the staff who know me very well by now.

You know I’m alone.

This is the company that I need. I like to get ready and come to the bank. I have enough time, it is the physical touch that I crave.

Two years back I got sick, The store owner from whom I buy fruits, came to see me and sat by my bedside and cried.

When u r Mom fell down few days back while on her morning walk. Our local grocer saw her and immediately got his car to rush her home as he knows where I live.

Would I have that Human touch if everything became online?

Why would I want everything delivered to me and force me to interact with just my computer?

I like to know the person that I’m dealing with and not just the Seller. It creates Bonds, Relationships.

Does Amazon deliver all this as well?

Woman with Snake...

She Slept With Her Snake And Then The Vet Told Her Something Shocking.

This is a story about a woman who lived in the Middle Ages and had a pet snake, python, which she loved so much. The snake was 4 meters long and looked healthy. However, one day her unusual pet just stopped eating.

This lack of appetite in the snake continued over a few weeks. The desperate woman tried everything she could and offered anything that a snake would like to strangle and eat. Nothing worked, and finally the woman took her loving pet to the veterinarian as a last resort.

The vet listened to the woman carefully and asked, “Does your snake sleep with you at night, wrap around you closely and spread out throughout its length?”

The woman was surprised and with a lot of hope she said, “Yes! Yes! It does it every day and it makes me so sad because I see something asking of me, and I cannot help it feel better.”

Then, the vet said something shocking and most unexpected. “Madam, your pet is not sick; it is just preparing to eat you.” Yes, the python wasn’t sick but it has been preparing to eat her instead!

“Every time, it is creeping and “hugging” you, wrapping around your body, it is checking size to weigh how a great meal you are and how it must be prepared before the attack. And yes, it does not eat, in order to have enough space to digest you more easily,” the vet said.

This story comes with a moral i.e. even people close to you, whom you are very affectionate with, can, have mean intentions. You need to identify the snake around you and their true intent. Hugs and kisses are not always honest. Don’t fear the enemy that attacks you, but the fake friend that hugs you.

“DUCKS QUACK , EAGLES SOAR ”

I was waiting in line for a ride at the airport in Dubai. When a cab pulled up, the first thing I noticed was that the taxi was polished to a bright shine. Smartly dressed in a white shirt, black tie, and freshly pressed black slacks, the cab driver jumped out and rounded the car to open the back passenger door for me.

He handed me a laminated card and said: ‘I’m Abdul, your driver. While I’m loading your bags in the trunk I’d like you to read my mission statement.’

Taken aback, I read the card. It said: Abdul’s Mission Statement:

To get my customers to their destination in the quickest, safest and cheapest way possible in a friendly environment.

This blew me away. Especially when I noticed that the inside of the cab matched the outside. Spotlessly clean!

As he slid behind the wheel, Abdul said, ‘Would you like a cup of coffee? I have a thermos of regular and one of decaf.’

I said jokingly, ‘No, I’d prefer a soft drink.’

Abdul smiled and said, ‘No problem. I have a cooler up front with regular and Diet Coke, lassi, water and orange juice.’

Almost stuttering, I said, ‘I’ll take a Lassi.’

Handing me my drink, Abdul said, ‘If you’d like something to read, I have The NST , Star and Sun Today.’

As they were pulling away, Abdul handed me another laminated card, ‘These are the stations I get and the music they play, if you’d like to listen to the radio.’

And as if that weren’t enough, Abdul told me that he had the air conditioning on and asked if the temperature was comfortable for me.

Then he advised me of the best route to my destination for that time of day. He also let me know that he’d be happy to chat and tell me about some of the sights or, if I preferred, to leave me with my own thoughts.

‘Tell me, Abdul ,’ I was amazed and asked him, ‘have you always served customers like this?’

Abdul smiled into the rear view mirror. “No, not always. In fact, it’s only been in the last two years. My first five years driving, I spent most of my time complaining like all the rest of the cabbies do. Then I heard about POWER OF CHOICE one day.”

Power of choice is that you can be a duck or an eagle.

‘If you get up in the morning expecting to have a bad day, you’ll rarely disappoint yourself. STOP COMPLAINING !’

‘DON’T BE A DUCK . BE AN EAGLE . DUCKS QUACK AND COMPLAIN . EAGLES SOAR ABOVE THE CROWD .’

‘That hit me. really hard’ said Abdul.

‘It is about me. I was always quacking and complaining, so I decided to change my attitude and become an eagle. I looked around at the other cabs and their drivers. The cabs were dirty, the drivers were unfriendly, and the customers were unhappy. So I decided to make some changes, slowly … a few at a time. When my customers responded well, I did more.’

‘I take it that it has paid off for you,’ I said.

‘It sure has,’ Abdul replied. ‘My first year as an eagle, I doubled my income from the previous year. This year I’ll probably quadruple it. My customers call me for appointments on my cell phone or leave a message on it.’

Abdul made a different choice. He decided to stop quacking like a duck and start soaring like an eagle.

Start becoming an eagle today … one small step every week..next week… And next…And….

Priorities

One day a new employee went to the Human Resources Manager and said “Sir, I’m not interested in coming to the office anymore.”

HR: But why?

Employee: Ah! I can speculate many employees speaking badly about other Employees at their back , few of them looking at their fellow employees in a wrong way, there are a lot of things that I can prove you, is wrong in this Office.

HR : OK. But before you go,may I ask you to complete a task ?

Employee: Yes, Sure.

HR: Take a glass of water filled upto the brim and walk three times around the office area without spilling a drop on the floor.

[He agreed and walked three times around the office.]

Then he reached HR saying that he is done with it.

HR: When you were walking around the Office, did you see any employee speaking badly about another Employee? Any Gossips? Any disturbances?

Employee: ( thinking) NO.

HR: Do you know why?

Employee: No. Why?

HR: Just because, you were focused on the glass, to make sure you didn’t tip it and spill any water. The same goes with our life. When our focus is on our priorities, we don’t have time to see the mistakes of others.

Moral of the story.

Concentrate on your priorities and goals rather than being distracted to the unhealthy surroundings.
